“TRI-IT Store” 250m POOL SWIM

The swim is in the 25-metre swimming pool and will start after the Pre-race meeting.  There are 5 lanes in the pool and a maximum of 4 swimmers in each lane (20 swimmers per wave). We will be utilizing a continuous feed swim – that is, when one swimmer exits the water, the next swimmer will walk through the timing mat and slip into that lane to being their swim (NO DIVING!). We will line up all participants according to your heat letter in the main hallway and group you with others with similar swim times (and heat letters) -  Ensure you know  your estimated 250m swim time  (or email the swim heat coordinator with your new time) as accurately as possible to aid us in seeding participants for an effective swim. Swimmers with estimated swim times over 12 min will start in the earlier waves.  Swimmers are to swim in a counter-clockwise circle only. Passing in the lane is permitted but please pass with caution. Volunteers will count your laps. At 200m (8 lengths) , the lap counter will place a flutterboard in the water to notify you that you have 50m to go.  The swim is 10 lengths or 5 laps. Exit the pool with caution and no running on deck! Walk to the swim exit on the left side of the pool, past the enthusiastic, screaming spectators!

Ridley’s Cycle” 9K BIKE

The bike portion: (REVISED BIKE ROUTE): South on Highway 2 Alt  for 2 kilometers, then (Right hand turn) West on Township Road 324.  There will be one turnaround before the railroad tracks at 4.1K. Cetrified Flagpersons will stop traffic at the Turnaround Only. Riders will return on Township Road 324 to Highway 2 Alt ., then proceed North on 2 Alt back to the transition area.

The bike distance is now 8.2K.

Roadway will not be closed to traffic – all traffic laws will be enforced. All riders must keep to the RIGHT of the roadway and use extreme caution when passing.

IMPORTANT: Alberta Highways (Red Deer Division) has requested that ALL RIDERS STOP AND YIELD TO TRAFFIC at the intersection of Township Road 324 and Highway 2A before taking their left hand turn onto Highway 2A. We will have volunteers at this left hand turn for your safety, but the volunteers will not be allowed to stop traffic for the bike riders. This highway has low traffic volume on Sunday mornings but if a rider has to wait  Two Minutes or more to cross, we will adjust the rider’s bike time.  Please understand that we ask for your cooperation on this matter and to keep the event fair, we ask ALL bike riders to STOP at this intersection and wait for the signal from the volunteers before making a left hand turn. There are rumble strips before this stop so all riders will be required to slow down.

ANSI approved helmets are mandatory for the race. Bike and helmet inspection prior to the race is highly recommended and will be made available by our bike sponsor. Please walk your bike over to the Ridley’s Cycle bike check tent for a quick inspection (if you are unsure if your bike is in good working order only) before putting your bike in transition (race morning). It is important for your safety, and the safety of other competitors that your bike is roadworthy.

For your safety, No IPODs/MP3′s are allowed. Note: Anyone caught wearing IPODs/MP3 players, etc. will be disqualified.
