The Second Annual “Diva Duathlon” will be held Sunday, September 22, 2013
Location: Turner Valley, Alberta
Race distances: 3 km Run – 12 km Bike – 2 km run
Women and Girls Only – Ages 14 years and up!
Race start time & Pre-Race Meeting (Mandatory) time:
8:40AM (Pre-Race Meeting), 9:00AM (mass start!)
There will be NO cut-off times. We will allow everyone to finish!

3-kilometer RUN
RUN MAP -DD_Transition and Run Course (652KB)
The run: All the run portion will on the “Friendship Trail” bike path which has been newly paved for the first kilometer, then a mix of gravel and pavement for the next 0.5 km portion. The run course has rolling hills. One turnaround (pylon) will be marked at 1.5K for the first run. A volunteer will record your racer number. We will require all runners to run this first 3 km in a counter-clockwise direction and those walking, please stay to far right of the pathway.
Please follow the marked path and listen to race volunteers. Family and friends are NOT allowed to run or bike beside you for the run portion. For your safety, absolutely no headphones (IPODs, MP3 players, etc.) on the run allowed.
TRANSITION
Transition Area will be located in the Dr. Lander Memorial Swimming Pool parking lot, 207 Main Street.

The bike portion: MOUNT bike AFTER walking across Main St. to Edgar Ave near Coyote Moon cafe. Proceed West on Edgar Ave., Left on George Street, Right on Windsor Ave then “Out and Back” on Highway 546 to return to DISMOUNT on Edgar Ave (near Coyote Moon cafe).. There are rolling hills. Highway 546 has a shoulder but will be open to traffic. Turnaround (pylon) will be at 6K. Flag people will be present at the turnaround and at the intersection of Windsor and Highway 546 (Sunset Blvd.) for traffic control but traffic is not guaranteed to stop.
Note: Use caution on a small patch of gravel on Edgar Ave.
ANSI approved helmets are mandatory for the race. Bike and helmet inspection prior to the race is highly recommended and will be made available by our bike sponsor. Please walk your bike over to the Ridley’s Cycle bike check tent for a quick inspection before putting your bike in transition (race morning). It is important for your safety, and the safety of other competitors that your bike is roadworthy.
For your safety, No IPODs/MP3′s are allowed. (Anyone caught wearing IPODs/MP3 players, etc. will be disqualified.)

pre-race service. Their $19.99 Pre-race Inspection Package includes an
overall bike assessment, minor adjustments and a repair estimate if your
bike requires more extensive work. Ridley’s Cycle will credit your
$19.99 inspection cost towards any Full Service Package booked prior to

Please note, the store may be quite busy on weekends and weekday evenings, so if your bike does need a major tune-up, BOOK it for an appointment with your favorite bike store ASAP.
PLEASE have your bikes (i.e. the one you will be riding on race day) inspected by the friendly mechanics at Ridley’s Cycle long before the morning of the event to avoid disappointment. You may want to have your helmets checked as well if you are unsure of their safety. Ridley’s Cycle will be available the morning of the event to provide a QUICK inspection of your bike ONLY.
If you are not able to have your bike checked by our bike sponsor Ridley’s Cycle, you can get your bike inspected by a local bike store or the morning of the race. If your bike is in poor condition, please DO NOT wait until the weekend of the race for your bike to be inspected!

THE FINISH!! Children ARE allowed to run into the finish line with you for the last 50 meters but please be cautious. Spectators must yield to all runners and finishers- thanks! There will be an official race photographer for your finish photo.
